چکیده

The basic features of a special type of learning control scheme, currently known as repetitive control are reviewed. It is seen that this control scheme also induces varied interesting theoretical problems— particularly those related to infinite-dimensional systems. They include such problems as the internal model principle, minimal representation of transfer functions, fractional representations, stability characterizations, correspondence of internal and external stability, etc. This article intends to give a comprehensive overview of the repetitive control scheme as well as the discussion of these related theoretical problems for infinite-dimensional systems. 1 What is Learning Control? The word learning almost always intrigues us. It reflects our very fundamental desire of having an intelligent artificial object that can perform complicated tasks instead of ourselves. Control itself was in fact a product of such a desire. From the very beginning, control was destined to have some intelligent power to be able to automatically adjust itself to the operating environment. It is not hard to imagine that the concept of feedback (in connection with the sensitivity reduction against disturbances) had a striking conceptual appeal to those working in the field. The secret here is that the control system can adjust itself (or, more appealingly, “learn to react”) to the fluctuation, disturbances, etc. that could be an obstacle to performing its task. ∗Supported in part by the Tateishi Science and Technology Foundation.

Solving infinite horizon optimal control problems of nonlinear interconnected large-scale dynamic systems via a Haar wavelet collocation scheme

We consider an approximation scheme using Haar wavelets for solving a class of infinite horizon optimal control problems (OCP's) of nonlinear interconnected large-scale dynamic systems. A computational method based on Haar wavelets in the time-domain is proposed for solving the optimal control problem. Haar wavelets integral operational matrix and direct collocation method are utilized to find ...

Concepts and Application of Three Dimensional Infinite Elements to Soil Structure-Interaction Problems

This study is concerned with the formulation of three dimensional mapped infinite elements with 1/r and 1/ decay types. These infinite elements are coupled with conventional finite elements and their application to some problems of soil structure interaction are discussed. The effeciency of the coupled finite-infinite elements formulation with respect to computational effort, data preparation a...

Elzaki transform method for finding solutions to two-dimensional elasticity problems in polar coordinates formulated using Airy stress functions

In this paper, the Elzaki transform method is used for solving two-dimensional (2D) elasticity problems in plane polar coordinates. Airy stress function was used to express the stress compatibility equation as a biharmonic equation. Elzaki transform was applied with respect to the radial coordinate to a modified form of the stress compatibility equation, and the biharmonic equation simplified t...

H∞ Mixed Sensitivity Minimization for Stable Infinite-Dimensional Plants Subject to Convex Constraints

This paper shows how convex optimization may be used to design near-optimal finite-dimensional compensators for stable linear time invariant (LTI) infinite dimensional plants. The infinite dimensional plant is approximated by a finite dimensional transfer function matrix. The Youla parameterization is used to parameterize the set of all stabilizing LTI controllers and formulate a weighted mixed...
